Hawaiian Style Fried Rice is truly a comfort food

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sushi rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 8 ounces frozen diced carrots
  • 1/2 - sweet onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • - vegetable oil
  • 1 can spam, diced
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 8 ounces frozen peas
  • 1 bunch green onions, sliced

How To Make hawaiian style fried rice

  • Step 1
    Make rice according to directions.
  • Step 2
    Lightly beat eggs with 1 tsp sugar and 2 tsp of soy sauce. I usually cook this like an omelet and then dice it.
  • Step 3
    Dice Spam. Brown in a little oil. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Step 4
    Add carrots, onion, ginger and garlic to the pan, saute until tender and fragrant.
  • Step 5
    Add sesame oil and rice to the pan. Mix well.
  • Step 6
    Add frozen peas. Mix in and make sure they are completely warmed through.
  • Step 7
    Remove from heat.
  • Step 8
    Add mirin, rice wine, and soy sauce to the pan. Mix well.
  • Step 9
    Add in the Spam, rice mixture and diced egg. Stir to incorporate.
  • Step 10
    Add diced green onion. Serve.
