This is one of the favorites at our house. It's great with barbecued chicken and homemade baked beans!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium red onion, chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon steak seasoning
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon tony chacherie'scajun seasoning or red pepper to taste
  • 2 - cubes beef boullion
  • 2 - cubes, chicken boullion
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups rice, uncooked

How To Make dirty rice - modified

  • Step 1
    Dissolve all boullion cubes together in water. I heat it in the microwave for a few minutes so the cubes get soft enough to mash and stir. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Brown ground beef, onions, bell pepper and all seasonings in a medium to large pan with a tight fitting lid. Cook on medium uncovered until veggies are almost tender, stirring frequently. You can drain at this point but I don't. It adds to the flavor. Add Worcestershire.
  • Step 3
    Stir in prepared boullion and rice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 20 minutes
