- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon hot curry powder
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice, ground
- 1 /4 cup brown rice, instant
- 1/2 cup raisins, golden
- 1/3 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
- 2 tablespoons onion flakes, dehydrated
How To Make curried rice mix in a jar recipe

Step 1Combine salt, pepper, curry and allspice. Pour into a 1 pint wide-mouth jar with a tight fitting lid. Add 1/2 cup rice, raisins, 1/2 cup rice, walnuts, remaining 1/2 cup rice, and onion; pack down lightly after each layer. Seal jar.

Step 2Cover top of jar with your choice of covering and attach a gift tag with instructions with raffia or a ribbon.

Step 3GIFT JAR INSTRUCTIONS: 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon water 1 jar Curried Rice Mix 1 tablespoon butter, unsalted Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in contents of jar, and return to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes. Stir in butter and fluff with a fork.
