1/2 tsp
kosher salt
1/4 tsp
freshly ground black pepper
1/4-1/2 tsp
hot curry powder
1/8 tsp
allspice, ground
1 /4 c
brown rice, instant
1/2 c
raisins, golden
1/3 c
walnuts, toasted and chopped
2 Tbsp
onion flakes, dehydrated

1Combine salt, pepper, curry and allspice. Pour into a 1 pint wide-mouth jar with a tight fitting lid.

Add 1/2 cup rice, raisins, 1/2 cup rice, walnuts, remaining 1/2 cup rice, and onion; pack down lightly after each layer. Seal jar.
2Cover top of jar with your choice of covering and attach a gift tag with instructions with raffia or a ribbon.
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon water
1 jar Curried Rice Mix
1 tablespoon butter, unsalted

Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in contents of jar, and return to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes.

Remove from heat. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes. Stir in butter and fluff with a fork.
