Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups long grain rice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 small white onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper,chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (more to taste)
How To Make central american rice

Step 1Rinse rice thoroughly in a strainer until the water runs clear. Let is drain well.

Step 2Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Add the rice and stir until slightly brown. Add onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Saute 1-2 minutes.

Step 3Add the water and salt; cover and cook until all water is absorbed. If more water is needed to get the rice tender, add very small amounts at a time.

Step 4Allow rice to sit off heat for 10 minutes.
