Swiss Steak with Gravy

We are big meat and potatoe fans. Add gravy to it and we are in heaven. This is a very filling and warm recipe.

2 lb
round steak
1/2 c
sliced onion
1/2 c
sliced green pepper
1 can(s)
14 oz. diced tomatoes garlic/onion flavor
1 tsp
season salt
1 pkg
brown gravy (add water as directed)
3 Tbsp
1 Tbsp
vegetable or olive oil
1 dash(es)
salt and pepper
1 tsp
cornstarch and 2 tsp water mixed in small bowl

How to Make Swiss Steak with Gravy


  • 1Tenderize round steak. Sprinkle seasoned salt on one side.
  • 2Sprinkle flour on both sides of round steak. Brown in oil on both sides. Remove beef to plate. Add onions and green peppers to pan and saute for 1 minute. Then add gravy, water, can of tomatoes, dash of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  • 3Return meat to pan and cover. Cook on simmer or low boil for 2 hours until meat is tender. Last 10 min. add mixtures of 1 tsp of cornstarch and 2 tsp of water to thicken and make gravy.
  • 4Serve with mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
