sweet potato casserole

This is my signature dish at our family's Thanksgiving dinner every year. It's very sweet and can be served as a side dish or as a dessert. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has.

Ingredients

  • 1 (40 oz ) can sweet potatoes (drained)
  • 1 (29 oz) can sweet potatoes (drained)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup milk (or less--you don't want it too soupy as it won't cook down)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • BROWN SUGAR TOPPING
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 stick margarine or butter (melted)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

How To Make sweet potato casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown Sugar Topping--in a small bowl, mix all ingredients together and set aside.
  • Step 2
    In large bowl mash sweet potatoes then add salt, eggs, margarine, milk and sugar together
  • Step 3
    Spoon into large casserole dish and top with Brown Sugar Topping
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
