Fried potatoes are well-loved in this family. Cooking them this way is a little healthier because of the steaming.

Ingredients For steam-fried potatoes

  • 8-10 lb
    potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    oil or bacon grease
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped fine
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make steam-fried potatoes

  • 1
    Coat the bottom of a large skillet with oil or bacon grease.
  • 2
    Add sliced potatoes until the skillet is full. Add water. Cover potatoes with onion, salt, and pepper.

    Cover skillet with a lid and let cook over medium-high heat until tender.
  • 4
    Remove lid and begin turning over potatoes, mixing in the onion.
  • 5
    Continue cooking until all water evaporates and potatoes start sticking to the bottom of the pan. let potatoes brown on the bottom before turning over with a spatula.

    Serve immediately.
