This recipe was handed down to me by an old friend of mine. It's really very good and easy. I hope that you will enjoy it.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds hashbrowns, thawed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup or cream of celery soup
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups plain, crushed cornflakes

How To Make southern party potatoes

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place defrosted potatoes in a casserole dish. Combine butter, salt, pepper, onion, soup, sour cream and cheese. Mix together thoroughly. Pour over potatoes Mix the 1/4 cup of butter and the crushed corn flakes and sprinkle over the top. Cover and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Step 2
    If you want to make this a meal instead of a side, all you have to do is add a pound of chopped ham in with the potatoes. Pour the cheese mixture on top.
