i have never been able to make scalloped tater right...have asked several have tried several recipes but i jus can't get taters cooked right....well my mother in law had scalloped taters for x-mas dinner this yr....they were great[and taters cooked] so i asked her for the recipe.... i made a couple changed and came up with these...had for dinner tonight........and yes taters were COOKED....... and hubby loved them....

Ingredients
- 4-5 small potatoes,boiled cooled and sliced,leave peel on them
- 1/4 stick butter
- 1 medium onion,diced
- 4 ounces fresh sliced mushroom[optional]
- 2 ounces sharp grated cheddar cheese
- 1 can [12 oz] evaporated milk
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup[or 1 1/1 c homemade]
- 1 jar [12 oz] chese whiz or 3/4 pound velveeta cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 can french fried onions

Step 1PRE HEAT OVEN TO 350......... HAVE 3QT OVEN PROVE BAKIN DISH SPRAYED WITH NONSTICK SPRAY

Step 2PUT BUTTER IN SAUCE PAN...MELT ADD ONIONS[AND MUSHROOMS,IF USING] COOK AND STIR TIL LIMP AND TENDER

Step 3ADD SOUP MILK AND CHEESE WHIZ.... COOK AND STIR TIL CHEESE MELTS... ADD GARLIC AND PEPPER[AND SMALL AMOUNT OF SALT IF NEEDED...I DIDN'T]

Step 4MIX GRATED CHEESE AND FRENCH FRIED ONIONS...

Step 5NOW START LAYERING FIRST CHEESE SAUCE THEN TATERS THEN FRENCH FRIED ONION.... DO THIS 3-4 TIMES ENDIN WITH FRENCH FRIED ONION....

Step 6PUT IN FRIDGE BOUT 30 MIN....... BAKE FOR 30-35 MIN LET REST BOUT 15 MIN THAN SERVE AND ENJOY..... WE HAS THIS WITH FRIED PORK CHOPS AND TOSSED SALAD YUMMY!!!!
