Ingredients

  • 2 tubes butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 pounds yellow potatoes peeled
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme minced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg grated
  • 1 cup grated gruyere cheese

How To Make scalloped potatoes with gruyere

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven 350 degrees. Rub 1 tbsp. butter inside an 8 x 8 baking dish.
  • Step 2
    With a mandoline slice the potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick. Add the remaining butter and half and half into a saucepan. Add the thyme, salt , pepper, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil and add the potatoes and cook 1 minute. Pour into the baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Bake about 30 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender. Top with the cheese and bake another 10 minutes.
