Ingredients

  • SALTED CARAMEL
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons flaky sea salt
  • SWEET POTATOES
  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • TOPPING
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 5 tablespoons butter melted

How To Make salted caramel sweet potato bake

  • Step 1
    to make the salted caramel In medium saucepan. Add the sugar and the water. Bring to a boil swirling a bit then continue to boil but do not move it until it turns a golden brown. Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream the mixture will sizzle and bubble but keep whisking until smooth. Stir in the salt. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Place the sweet potatoes in boiling salted water and boil until the potatoes are fork tender. Drain. With a mixer beat the potatoes with the egg and butter adding about 1 cup of the caramel mixture and beating until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Place in a greased 9x9 pan. Mix the topping ingredients together and sprinkle over the top. bake at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. Drizzle remaining caramel over for serving.
