praline topped sweet potato casserole

My husband got this recipe from a distant relative & makes it every year for thanksgiving. It is delicious! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sweet potatoes (baked & peeled)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup pecans, in pieces

How To Make praline topped sweet potato casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Step 2
    Grease a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish
  • Step 3
    Whip potatoes with mixer (this helps remove any strings).
  • Step 4
    Add sugar & mix.
  • Step 5
    Add eggs one at a time & mix completely after each addition.
  • Step 6
    Measure vanilla & evaporated milk in a cup. Mix it then slowly add to potato mixture.
  • Step 7
    Add cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, & salt.
  • Step 8
    Spread evenly in bottom of prepared casserole pan.
  • Step 9
    Combine the butter, flour, & sugar until combined. Add chopped pecans then sprinkle evenly over potatoes.
  • Step 10
    Bake at 350 covered with foil or a lid for 20 minutes. Uncover & cook an additional 10 minutes.
