My husband got this recipe from a distant relative & makes it every year for thanksgiving. It is delicious! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

  • 3 c
    sweet potatoes (baked & peeled)
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 large
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/3 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    pumpkin pie spices
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    pecans, in pieces

How to Make Praline topped sweet potato casserole


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish
  3. Whip potatoes with mixer (this helps remove any strings).
  4. Add sugar & mix.
  5. Add eggs one at a time & mix completely after each addition.
  6. Measure vanilla & evaporated milk in a cup. Mix it then slowly add to potato mixture.
  7. Add cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, & salt.
  8. Spread evenly in bottom of prepared casserole pan.
  9. Combine the butter, flour, & sugar until combined. Add chopped pecans then sprinkle evenly over potatoes.
  10. Bake at 350 covered with foil or a lid for 20 minutes. Uncover & cook an additional 10 minutes.
