Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 - medium onion, diced
- 1 - medium jalapeno pepper, diced
- 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup beef stock
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 - medium potatoes (peeled and diced)
- 1 1/4 cups green or black olives, chopped
- - oil for sauteing
How To Make picadillo

Step 1Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl. Add salt, pepper, oregano and cumin. Combine thoroughly. Set aside.

Step 2Heat the oil in a frying pan and saute the onions, jalapeno pepper and garlic until soft.

Step 3Crumble the ground beef mixture into the onion mixture and cook until the meat is slightly brown. Add the flour to the ,ixture and stir until flour is combined well.

Step 4Add the beef stock, tomato sauce and potatoes. Stir well, cover and cook on medium-low heat for another 20 minutes.

Step 5Uncover, add olives, if using. Cook, uncovered, another 15 minutes or until liquid has reduced but meat is still moist.

Step 6Add more salt and pepper if needed.

Step 7Serve hot with refried beans, rice, your favorite salsa and hot flour tortillas. Also great for making burritos or empenadas.
