Before microwaves existed my mother baked potatoes in the oven and after years of trying other methods we are returning to the old fashioned oven baked potato and this is how we do it!

Ingredients
- large baking potatoes
- crisco shortening
- butter
- sour cream
- salt and pepper to taste
How To Make perfect baked pitatoes

Step 1Preheat oven to 400•

Step 2Wash and dry baking potatoes.

Step 3Using a sharp knife cut very shallow slits down the center of each potato then cut two small slits crosswise.

Step 4Using disposable kitchen gloves grease each potatoes with shortening

Step 5Place potatoes directly on middle rack of oven. Bake for 30 minutes then turn each potato and bake an additional 30 minutes

Step 6Serve piping hot with butter, sour cream and salt and pepper.

Step 7Add toppings of choice such as chives, green onion, or shredded cheeses
