in a large bowl add thawed shredded hash brown potatoes.
add soup, sour cream, buttter, and 12oz of cheese mixing completely.
in a 9x13 baking pan spread potato mixture evenly.
sprinkle remaining 4oz of cheese over the top, covinging completely.
bake uncovered at 350 for 1 hour or untill cheese is bubblely and brown.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
