Mormon funeral potatoes are a wonderful dish to bring to any type of gathering. While the name is unusual, the dish is delicious. It originated within the Mormon/LDS community where potluck-style luncheons are popular after a funeral. This recipe does serve a crowd. There's plenty of cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and melted butter mixed with shredded hash browns to make this casserole nice and creamy. Buttery Corn Flakes add a nice crunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz each)
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp melted butter; divided
  • 32 ounces frozen shredded hash browns
  • 2 cups finely crushed Corn Flakes

  • Grease a 9x13 baking dish.

  • In a large bowl combine soups, sour cream, shredded cheese, diced onions, and 1/2 cup of melted butter.
