Ingredients

  • 6-8
    potatoes - un-peeled
  • 1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1 large
    onion - chopped
  • 5
    sweet pickles - chopped
  • 5
    dill pickles - chopped
  • 1/2 tsp
    celery seed (whole)
  • 1 c
    mayonaise (not salad dressing)
  • 4
    hard boiled eggs - chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • ·
    salt & pepper to taste

How to Make Mom's Dutch Tater Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Boil potatoes and eggs until potatoes are tender.
  2. Drain and let cool.
  3. Chop other ingredients (celery, onion, pickles). Put in large bowl & mix well.
  4. Add other ingredients (celery seed, mayonaise, sugar, salt & pepper) to bowl mixture.
  5. Peel potatoes and eggs. (The skin on the potatoes should peel off easily.)
  6. Chop potatoes into 1/4 in squares.
  7. Chop eggs and add potatoes and eggs to bowl mixture.
  8. Mix well with your hands, then chill the mixture.
