My children will not eat anyone elses mashed potatos! I never thought they were all that special until I had friends over for Easter and they all wanted to know how I made them so delish. I guess some people have never added cheese and garlic. So I decided to post them just because : ) I do have pics at home so I will post when I am there

5 lb
yukon gold potatoes, boiled in the skins
4 slice
thin white american cheese (not the stuff wrapped in plastic sleeves, get it from the deli
4 slice
thin provolone cheese
minced garlic
garlic powder
salt, pepper
1 stick
real salted butter (no margarine)
you can use more or less cheese to taste

How to Make Mashed Potatoes Done My Way


  • 1Put potatoes (skins on)in large bowl, add butter in dabs over potatoes. Beat on medium till blended.
  • 2Add cheeses and garlic and mix.
  • 3Add all seasonings and mix, tasting till its salted and seasoned to your taste.
  • 4Add just enough milk to make potatoes the consistancy you prefer. (we actually like ours a bit lumpy)
