- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 stick butter
- salt and pepper, to taste
How To Make mashed potatoes
-
Step 1Peel and slice potatoes into large pieces. Cut one potato into four or five pieces.
-
Step 2Boil potatoes in a large pot on the stovetop for 30 - 40 minutes until tender when stuck with a fork.
-
Step 3Drain potatoes, and put butter on them.
-
Step 4Use a potato masher to mash potatoes and butter.
-
Step 5Warm one cup of milk in the microwave for 1 minute.
-
Step 6Use a mixer to beat potatoes, adding milk 1/4 cup at a time. Use as little or as much (or more) milk as you need to get the creamy consistency that you want. Less milk creates stiffer potatoes. More milk creates thinner potatoes.
-
Step 7Salt and pepper to taste.
-
Step 8For a more buttery flavor, add more butter to the top of the hot, mashed potatoes.
