Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup light sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk, warmed
  • 3 tablespoons prepared horseradish, or more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, or more to taste
  • freshly ground mixed peppercorns, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped

How To Make horseradish mashed potatoes

  • Step 1
    In a large pot, add coarse sea salt, potatoes, and top with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Drain well and return the potatoes to the pot. Mash the spuds before adding butter; mash again.
  • Step 3
    Add sour cream and warm milk. Mash to combine before adding horseradish; mash to blend.
  • Step 4
    Season with garlic salt and freshly ground mixed peppercorns; add chives. Mix one more time, making sure there’s no lumps; taste and adjust if needed.
