I copied this recipe from someone else but wanted one for my box that had the comment about how to do the water.

2-4 servings
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 2 cups warm water (just to dissolve vinegar) then add ice cubes
- 2 - large russet potatoes - peeled, and sliced into 1/4 inch strips
- 6 cups vegetable oil for frying
- - seasoned salt
How To Make homemade french fries
-
Step 1In a medium bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Soak potatoes in water mixture for 15 minutes. Remove from water, and dry thoroughly on paper towels.
-
Step 2Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Add potatoes, and cook until golden, 5 to 6 minutes. drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.

Step 3Comment copied and pasted from someone else: For those who think it's odd to soak them in warm water...well the warm water is merely to dissolve the sugar. After the sugar is dissolved I add some ice and then do the soaking. These fries are the best. I have baked these (spraying with pam & seasoning w/ garlic salt) as well as fried them and they are always a hit.
