  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 3 medium
    baking potatoes
  • 1 tsp
    garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 c
    gruyere cheese or swiss cheese, freshly grated

How to Make Gruyere Potatoes

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Combine milk, butter, salt and pepper to taste in saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  3. Rinse potatoes and peel.
  4. Cut into 1/8 inch slices and drop them into hot milk mixture. Add garlic. Partially cover and return to a boil.
  5. Simmer 15 minutes.
  6. Pour potatoes into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Bake until sauce thickens and top is golden brown.
