Ingredients

1 1/2 c
milk
2 Tbsp
butter
salt and pepper
3 medium
baking potatoes
1 tsp
garlic, finely minced
1/2 c
gruyere cheese or swiss cheese, freshly grated

How to Make Gruyere Potatoes

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2Combine milk, butter, salt and pepper to taste in saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  • 3Rinse potatoes and peel.
  • 4Cut into 1/8 inch slices and drop them into hot milk mixture. Add garlic. Partially cover and return to a boil.
  • 5Simmer 15 minutes.
  • 6Pour potatoes into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top.
  • 7Bake until sauce thickens and top is golden brown.
