Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- - salt and pepper
- 3 medium baking potatoes
- 1 teaspoon garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 cup gruyere cheese or swiss cheese, freshly grated
How To Make gruyere potatoes

Step 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Step 2Combine milk, butter, salt and pepper to taste in saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Step 3Rinse potatoes and peel.

Step 4Cut into 1/8 inch slices and drop them into hot milk mixture. Add garlic. Partially cover and return to a boil.

Step 5Simmer 15 minutes.

Step 6Pour potatoes into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top.

Step 7Bake until sauce thickens and top is golden brown.
