criss-cross potatoes
These yummy potatoes came from a long-ago cookbook and they've always been a big hit whenever I've made them. They go well with any type of meat dish, and you can even load them up with toppings if you so desire.

Ingredients
- 4 medium idaho potatoes
- 1/2 stick butter
- - salt and pepper
- pinch paprika
- - may vary seasonings: seasoned salt instead of salt, garlic powder, onion powder, etc.
How To Make criss-cross potatoes
-
Step 1Wash potatoes and cut in half lengthwise. Dry with paper towel.
-
Step 2Score the cut surface of each potato half with a sharp knife in a criss-cross pattern, about 1/8" deep.
-
Step 3Place potatoes on a baking sheet and lavishly spread butter on top of each. Salt and pepper to taste.
-
Step 4Bake in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour. Sprinkle potatoes with paprika if desired and bake 15 minutes more.
-
Step 5We like this with chicken fried steak or Swiss steak. Serve with butter and sour cream.
