These yummy potatoes came from a long-ago cookbook and they've always been a big hit whenever I've made them. They go well with any type of meat dish, and you can even load them up with toppings if you so desire.

Ingredients For criss-cross potatoes

  • 4 md
    idaho potatoes
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • salt and pepper
  • pinch
    paprika
  • may vary seasonings: seasoned salt instead of salt, garlic powder, onion powder, etc.

How To Make criss-cross potatoes

    Wash potatoes and cut in half lengthwise. Dry with paper towel.

    Score the cut surface of each potato half with a sharp knife in a criss-cross pattern, about 1/8" deep.

    Place potatoes on a baking sheet and lavishly spread butter on top of each. Salt and pepper to taste.

    Bake in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour. Sprinkle potatoes with paprika if desired and bake 15 minutes more.

    We like this with chicken fried steak or Swiss steak. Serve with butter and sour cream.
