creamy mashed potatoes with cheese

I think I got this recipe off of French's Fried Onions (dried onions) several years ago. These potatoes are DELICIOUS ! Everyone always wants me to bring this as a side dish , I always have to double the batch .

Ingredients

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons parsley flakes
  • 1 1/3 cans french's fried onions
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make creamy mashed potatoes with cheese

  • Step 1
    Make up mashed potatoes according to package or use home made ones.
  • Step 2
    Combine the first 5 ingredients together .
  • Step 3
    Spoon 1/2 the mixture in a 2 Qt. casserole dish.
  • Step 4
    Top with 2/3 of the dried onions and 1/2 cup of the cheese. (I always add more cheese)
  • Step 5
    Top with remaining potato mixture.
  • Step 6
    Bake @ 350° for 30 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Top with the remaining dried onions around the edge of the dish and put the remaining cheese in the center.
  • Step 8
    Place back in the oven for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the onions are browned.
