creamed peas and potatos

This was my moms recipe. My favorite side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound small new potatos
  • 11/2 cups frozen baby peas
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup milk

How To Make creamed peas and potatos

  • Step 1
    Peel and boil potatoes. Don't overcook. Drain. Set aside. Boil the peas until tender.
  • Step 2
    In a saucepan, add the onion and the butter. Cook until the onions are tender. Add the flour, salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed. Add the milk. Stir until well blended.
  • Step 3
    Continue to stir and simmer until mixture has thickened. Cook for 1 more minute. Add the sugar while simmering. Add the peas and potatoes to the sauce. Stir well till heated thoroughly.
