This definitely falls under the comfort food category. It's been a favorite in my family for years.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pkg oreida potatoes o'brien (thawed)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 1 package shredded velveeta cheese
  • 1 small container of sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pinch black pepper
  • 1 package crushed ritz or towne house crackers

How To Make country style hashbrown casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease or spray oblong casserole dish.
  • Step 2
    Spread thawed potatoes on bottom of casserole dish evenly. Sprinkle salt and pepper over potatoes.
  • Step 3
    In a mixing bowl, combine soup, butter and sour cream and mix well. Pour mixture over potatoes.
  • Step 4
    Layer shredded cheese over mixture and cover top with crushed crackers.
  • Step 5
    Bake for about 45 minutes or until top is golden brown and bubbly. Let set for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
