This is one of my FAVORITE side dishes to make for the holidays or a potluck!!! People will love it, its a tradition now in my family.. Got this recipe from my mom who I think got it from my Aunt...

  • 1 can(s)
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 c
    cheese, shredded
  • dash(es)
    salt and pepper (i just eyeball it)
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • or
    (1 1/4 c sour cream and 1/4 cup margerine)
  • 2 lb
    hash brown potatoes, (thawed) or you can use the square potatoes that are frozen we use instead most of the time.
  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion

How to Make Company Potatoes


  1. Mix all ingredients @ 350 for 1 hour, covered. Can be made ahead and refrigerated until you are ready to bake.
  2. (I have made this in the crock pot and it turned out great as well I believe I turned it on high for about 4 hours than turned it down to low till we served it about 1 hour longer) I just mainly eyeballed it...
