Ingredients

  • 4 pounds russet potatoes, scrubbed, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make cheesy tasty scallop potatoes

  • Step 1
    Secure a glass 13 x 9 pan. Grease thoroughly with butter or pan spray.
  • Step 2
    In a medium saucepan, melt butter on medium heat. Once melted, add in flour slowly and whisk until flour has melted and is incorporated, about 3 minutes cooking out the flour.
  • Step 3
    Pour in the milk and whisk continually until it thickens. Once it thickens, whisk in the cheese. If you need more milk, pour another splash in. Turn burner to low heat.
  • Step 4
    Scrub and peel potatoes. Slice them 1/4” thick. Lay them in a layer in your greased 13 x 9 pan.
  • Step 5
    Salt and or pepper your potatoes, then add your other layer of potatoes. Salt and or pepper again.
  • Step 6
    Preheat 375 degrees F.
  • Step 7
    Pour cheese sauce over potatoes and cover with foil.
  • Step 8
    Bake for 45 minutes then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Step 9
    Pull it out of the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
