How To Make cheesy mashed potato bake

place potatoes in 3-quart saucepan and cover with cold water. add 1 tablespoon salt. bring to boil. cover, reduce heat. cook 20 minutes or until fork tender, drain. mash potatoes with masher. add butter, sour cream, cheese, chives. stir until mixed. spoon the mixter into casserole. bake 20-25 minutes. sprinkle with onions and bacon. bake an additional 5 minutes
