This recipe has been in our family for generations. I've loved it all my life, it tastes just like candy. It's good hot or cold.

prep time 5 Min
cook time 10 Min
method Saute
yield 4-6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 can yams
  • 3-4 tablespoons butter
  • - white sugar

How To Make candied yams

  • Step 1
Drain yams and cut larger pieces in half.
  • Step 2
Heat butter in a large skillet on med; add yams. Let yams cook for a few minutes until they begin to brown, then turn over and do the same on this side. When both sides are browned, sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar over the yams and turn over. Do this about 4-5 times with sugar until you have a caramelized effect. Remove and serve immediately.
