candied sweet potatoes
No Image
Maybe it's just me but I could never make candied sweet potatoes with a thick, rich syrupy glaze.I would cook the potatoes only to find them with too much liquid or not enough to glaze.I was watching a UTube video and I saw a lady make them with a syrupy glaze on her potatoes, just like I always try to make,so I decided to make them, with my own twist( they came out really good to my surprise! This is more of a method than a recipe.I didn't measure,I just eyeballed everything to my taste, please do the same and your sweet potatoes will come out well too!

How To Make candied sweet potatoes
-
1Place potatoes, butter, nutmeg, sugars and salt in a pan with a tight fitting top.No water.Place on top of stove on medium high heat.Cover.Cook 30 minutes, do not lift top until 30 minutes when potatoes should be tender. The potatoes will have made their own liquid.Slowly pour in the cornstarch slurry ( 2 teaspoons cornstarch to 2 teaspoons water, well mixed) stir until liquid thickens.Turn off heat. You now have beautifully glazed sweet potatoes! I used to remove the potatoes from the pot and turn up the heat to thicken the liquid, but this method glazes the potatoes just right.
