This is a family and friends favorite. Sounds like a lot to do, but it really is very easy! You can do this without bourbon. It's just for extra flavor, so it is kid friendly. Enjoy!! This will be a staple at your Thanksgiving table as it is in ours.

  • 4 lb
    sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/3 c
    orange juice
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    apple pie spice
  • 1 c
    maple syrup
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    clove, ground
  • 1/4 c

How to Make Bourbon Sweet Potatoes


  1. Scrub potatoes. Cook, covered in boiling salted water, until tender. Drain, cool and peel under cold running water.Mash in a bowl.
  2. Add Butter/margarine, bourbon, oj,brown sugar,salt, apple pie spice, maple syrup,nutmeg,clove,sugar and mix together.Beat until smooth.
  3. pour into a baking dish. Sprinkle hazelnuts or pecans or mini marshmellows on top.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins. or until lightly browned.
