I initially posted this on another site for a world tour game. From A Taste of Switzerland by Sue Style. Times are approximate and do not include time for cooking the macaroni and potatoes.

  • 10 oz
    elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 1 lb
    potatoes, sliced and cooked
  • 5 oz
    bacon, chopped
  • 7 oz
  • ·
    salt and pepper, to taste
  • ·
    nutmeg, to taste
  • 3 oz
    sbrinz cheese or swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp

How to Make Alpler Magrone (Macaroni with Bacon)


  1. Saute bacon until crisp.
  2. Add cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  3. Mix in macaroni and potatoes.
  4. Layer into a baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 10 minutes at 350F.
  6. Meanwhile saute onion in butter until golden.
  7. Serve sprinkled with the onion.
