This local restaurant serves up great soul food and southern-style cooking. Given the ingredients in this mac & cheese (cost and calories), you must save this recipe for when you want a real treat! And it is a real treat!

    elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 1 c
    whole milk
  • 24 oz
    evaporated milk
  • 3
  • 1 stick
    butter, cubed
  • 8 oz
    Colby & Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 8 oz
    sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 1 lb
    Velveeta, cubed
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground white pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream (optional)
  • 1 c
    mild cheddar cheese, shredded (for top)

    To make your version of Sweetie Pie's Mac & Cheese preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

    Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni according to pkg directions until tender. Drain.

    While macaroni is cooking, mix both types of milk and eggs in a large bowl. Add the sour cream, salt, pepper, and sugar, mixing until combined. Pour over the macaroni and stir.

    Stir in the cheese and butter.

    Transfer cooked pasta to an oil sprayed 10x14" pan or tall 9x13" dish. Set aside.

    Sprinkle the top with one cup of mild cheddar cheese.
