Saw this in a local newspaper, which was having a contest for 'best mac and cheese' recipes. This one looked so simple that I could not believe it would be any good....was I wrong! The original was topped with cooked sausage links, but this is a great stand-alone dish.

  • 3 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 2 c
    uncooked macaroni
  • 4 c
    whole milk
  • 8 oz
    extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp

How to Make Simply, A Great Macaroni and Cheese


  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In the oven, in a large casserole dish, melt the butter.
  3. Remove, coat the uncooked macaroni with the butter, adding salt and pepper.
  4. Add milk and cheese. Mix.
  5. Bake 45-50 minutes.
