  • 1 1/2 c
    uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 c
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried ground mustard
  • 3/4 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion powder

How to Make My Mac and Cheese


  1. Prepare macaroni as directed on package.
  2. As the pasta cooks prepare cheese sauce. In a small bowl combine flour and spices and set aside.
  3. In a medium sauce pan on low heat melt the margarine and then slowly sprinkle in flour mixture and stir to combine cooking for 2-3 min to cook out the raw flour flavor.
  4. Slowly add milk, whisking constantly until mixture comes to a boil, let boil for 1 min.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in cheese until smooth.
  6. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and then drain pasta. Add warm pasta to cheese mix to combine. Use reserved pasta water to thin out to your liking if necessary.
