My husband loves macaroni and cheese. I have several recipes that I alternate so that we don't get tired of it.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 1 pound cheddar cheese, grated
  • 8 ounces monterey jack cheese with jalapeno peppers, grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 5 ounces evaporated milk

How To Make macaroni and cheese casserole

  • Step 1
    Boil macaroni in salted water, al dente (about 6 minutes). Drain, do not rinse.
  • Step 2
    Add butter and cream cheese, 8 ounces grated cheddar cheese, and grated pepper jack cheese. Combine until cheeses are melted.
  • Step 3
    Combine salt, pepper, dry mustard into a beaten egg. Temper the egg by adding a teaspoon of the hot mixture to the egg and stirring. Add to the macaroni mixture.
  • Step 4
    Pour into a greased casserole dish. Pour the evaporated milk of the casserole and let soak in. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.
