This dish is my absolute favorite. It is the first thing that my grandmother taught me how to make.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups penne pasta
  • 1 1/2 pounds your choice off cheese. i prefer cheddar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or cottage cheese
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • - salt and pepper

How To Make homemade baked macaroni and cheese

  • Step 1
    Pre heat oven 350 degrees. Boil pasta until it is al dente. While pasta is boiling shred cheese and beat egg and milk together.
  • Step 2
    Drain water from pasta. Mix in sour cream or cottage cheese with the noodles.
  • Step 3
    Layer baking dish noodles, cheese, salt and pepper. Should be two layers.
  • Step 4
    Pour milk and egg mixture over dish. Place baking dish in oven check after 45 mins.
  • Step 5
    Should be dark golden brown on top. Use fork to make sure milk and egg mixture is cooked and not runny. let sit for 20 mins. before serving.
