if there are any leftovers, this is awesome fried in a little bit of butter and eaten with eggs for breakfast the next morning! this is my mom's German mother's recipe. Its always a hit with us! Can be easily doubled or tripled for leftovers!

Ingredients For german spaetzles

  • 2 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    water

How To Make german spaetzles

  • 1
    bring a pot of water with a pinch of salt and a little bit of oil to a boil
  • 2
    put a little bit of the spaetzle dough into a spaetzle maker or a large holed seive or metal grater and press the dough through to drop into the boiling water
  • 3
    boil for about 5-8 minutes
  • 4
    use a slotted spoon and scoop the cooked spaetzles out of the water and into a colander to drain
  • 5
    once drained, place into a bowl and toss with some butter
