  • 1 c
    elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    red pepper
  • 8 oz
    block, sharp cheddar cheese, shredded and divided

How to Make Classic Baked Mac n Cheez

Step-by-Step

  1. Prepare pasta according to pkg directions. Keep warm.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  3. Melt butter in large sauce pan over medium heat.
  4. Whisk in flour until smooth. Cook, whisking constantly for 2 mins.
  5. Gradually add in milk and continue to whisk constantly. (cook for about 5 mins or until thickened).
  6. Remove from heat. Stir in salt,peppers, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked pasta.
  7. Stir well. Spoon pasta mixture into a lightly greased baking dish.
  8. Top with remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 20 mins or until bubbly. Let stand for 10 mins before serving.
