Ingredients

  • 1 cup elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper
  • 8 ounces block, sharp cheddar cheese, shredded and divided

How To Make classic baked mac n cheez

  • Step 1
    Prepare pasta according to pkg directions. Keep warm.
  • Step 2
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Step 3
    Melt butter in large sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Step 4
    Whisk in flour until smooth. Cook, whisking constantly for 2 mins.
  • Step 5
    Gradually add in milk and continue to whisk constantly. (cook for about 5 mins or until thickened).
  • Step 6
    Remove from heat. Stir in salt,peppers, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked pasta.
  • Step 7
    Stir well. Spoon pasta mixture into a lightly greased baking dish.
  • Step 8
    Top with remaining cheese.
  • Step 9
    Bake for 20 mins or until bubbly. Let stand for 10 mins before serving.
