I created this new kind of macaroni and cheese recipe with different forms of Parmesan cheese (shredded, grated, and shaved) is great with baked chicken and steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning
  • 3 cups shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 cup crushed buttery round crackers
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

How To Make baked macaroni and parmesan

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add the shaved Parmesan cheese.
  • Step 3
    Cook the macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  • Step 4
    Melt the margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the milk, half and half, and ranch dressing.
  • Step 5
    Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Add shredded Parmesan and cream cheese, stirring frequently, cooking until melted.
  • Step 6
    Season with onion powder and black pepper, continue to stir, cook for 6 minutes. Remove from heat. Add cooked macaroni and stir until combined.
  • Step 7
    Pour the macaroni mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with crushed cracker crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Step 8
    Bake for 35 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
