Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup macaroni, cooked
  • 3 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

How To Make baked macaroni and cheese

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    In small nonstick skillet heat 1 teaspoon of butter until bubbly and hot. Add onion and saute until translucent. (Do not brown).
  • Step 3
    In bottom of 1-quart casserole spread 3/4 cup of macaroni. Top with 1 1/2 ounces cheese, then half the sauteed onion. Repeat layers.
  • Step 4
    In small bowl combine milk, egg, salt and pepper, mixing well. Pour over macaroni mixture and sprinkle with paprika.
  • Step 5
    Dot with remaining butter and bake until set, 20-25 minutes. Do not overcook.
