I love baked Mac & Cheese, and this is the best recipe I have found, adapted from Taste of Home, Feb/Mar 2010. When I make this with my Cheesy Baked Chicken recipe, I also top this dish with any leftover crumbs.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 dash freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup velvetta cheese, cubed

How To Make baked mac & cheese

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta according to directions and set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a large saucepan, melt butter, then stir in flour until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Gradually add milk; stir in the salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and nutmeg.
  • Step 4
    Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  • Step 5
    Stir in cheeses until melted; stir in drained pasta.
  • Step 6
    Transfer to ungreased 2 qt baking dish; bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
