This recipe has been used over and over. It keeps well in the refrigerator for days, excellent served with fish or cookouts.

8 c
shredded cabbage (1 1/2 to 2 lbs)
2 Tbsp
chopped pimentoes
1/2 c
chopped green pepper
3/4 c
chopped onion
1 c
1 c
vinegar (i use white vinegar)
1/2 c
1 Tbsp
mustard seed

How to Make Vinegar Slaw


  • 1In a large bowl, combine cabbage, pimentoes, green pepper & onion. Toss lightly; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered for 20-25 min. until slightly thickened.
  • 2Pour over cabbage mixture. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Will keep in refrigerator several days.
