I felt like the taco seasoning was too salty so started buying the low sodium, but it was only available now and then..soooo... I decided to come up with my own version. I started with a list of what my favorite seasoning had in it, then started mixing, adjusting, adding different stuff, etc. This is not my final recipe but it is the working one. I can never say anything is final cause some new seasoning may come out etc. But the whole family is satisfied and happy with this one. I actually make a quart jar of it to keep on hand. Then I keep it in a jar in the freezer, n=inside a zip lock bag.

How To Make taco seasoning, homemade

  • Step 1
Mix all ingredients together and store in jar till ready to use. This is enough for 2 pounds of meat.
  • Step 2
To use: Brown ground beef, add the taco seasoning and 1/2 to 3/4 cup water and simmer till thick. I often do this around 2 and then put the seasoned meat in a crock pot and simmer it on low till dinner time, it really gives it a slow cooked flavor!
