Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 can (14.75 oz.) creamed-style corn
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
- 3 tablespoons snipped fresh cilantro
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- - vegetable oil for deep frying
How To Make spiced hush puppies

Step 1Combine all ingredients, except oil, in a large bowl just until moistened. Heat oil in a deep pan (or use deep fryer) over medium heat. Drop batter using spoon or ice cream scoop into hot oil. Fry for about 2 minutes each side or until golden brown.
