This was Grandma W's version of stuffing, and of course, had to have Italian Sausage!

Ingredients For sausage stuffing for turkey, grandma w

  • 8 oz
    pecans
  • 1 lb
    sweet italian sausage
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 c
    chopped celery
  • 1 c
    apple, pared and cored
  • 1 tsp
    sage
  • 1 tsp
    thyme
  • 1 tsp
    rosemary
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 21 oz
    plain croutons
  • 13 3/4 oz
    chicken broth

How To Make sausage stuffing for turkey, grandma w

    Cover nuts with water in saucepan, boil then simmer 15 min. Break in half and set aside. Fry sausage until brown and crumbly, drain fat, chop coarsely. Combine remaining ingredients, blend well. Chill while preparing a turkey for stuffing or put in greased casserole covered with foil. Cook last hour of turkey cooking.
