This recipe was given to me by a dear friend who is no longer with us. I'm pretty sure this is an authentic Polish recipe. You can make a meal of it or serve as a side.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

1 lg. can(s)
saurkraut, drained
1
carrot, diced
1
potato, diced
1
onion, diced
1 tsp
sugar
1
pork shank (or 6 meaty country ribs)

polish sausage or rope sausage

Step-By-Step

1Put sauerkraut, carrot, potato, sugar and onion in Nesco roaster. Add some water and cook until tender.
2Meanwhile, boil (simmer) meat for 1/2 hour.
3Add meat to sauerkraut and cook at 300 degrees until meat is very tender.
4Note: Prep time includes waiting for vegetables and meat to cook prior to assembly.
