This recipe was given to me by a dear friend who is no longer with us. I'm pretty sure this is an authentic Polish recipe. You can make a meal of it or serve as a side.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 1 lg. can(s)
    saurkraut, drained
  • 1
    carrot, diced
  • 1
    potato, diced
  • 1
    onion, diced
  • 1 tsp
  • 1
    pork shank (or 6 meaty country ribs)
  • 6
    polish sausage or rope sausage

How to Make Ron's Kraut with Pork


  1. Put sauerkraut, carrot, potato, sugar and onion in Nesco roaster. Add some water and cook until tender.
  2. Meanwhile, boil (simmer) meat for 1/2 hour.
  3. Add meat to sauerkraut and cook at 300 degrees until meat is very tender.
  4. Note: Prep time includes waiting for vegetables and meat to cook prior to assembly.
