Since it is really not that far from the holidays I thought I would share my favorite stuffing recipe. This can also be used for a side dish and when I cook cornish hens I cook this stuffing and sit the hens on it in the platter.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground italian sausage
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 8 cups cornbread stuffing
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • - black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning

How To Make ripienodi salsicce(stuffing for turkey)

  • Step 1
    Brown sausage, drain, do not put back in skillet at this time. To skillet add olive oil, onions, celery cook until tender, but not brown. Add garlic and Italian seasoning, cook about 1 minute. Add sausage, cornbread stuffing, cheese, pepper. Stir. Add parsley and chicken broth, stir together. Either stuff the turkey at this time and bake or pour stuffing into baking pan and bake at 350 degrees about 15-20 minutes.
