- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- cayenne pepper, optional
- 1/2 cup quick grits
- 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Monterey jack cheese
How To Make rich and creamy cheese grits

Step 1Simmer the milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat until hot, being careful not to boil.

Step 2Add salt, pepper and cayenne (if using). Whisk in the grits and reduce heat to medium. Continue whisking until smooth; cook approximately 8-10 minutes.

Step 3Turn off the heat and add the cheese. Adjust seasoning as needed.
